Panasonic SF4D-A24-01 is a sensor array designed for compact and robust arm/foot-protection with intrinsic safety features suitable for safety light curtain applications, achieving Performance Level e (PL e) and Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3). It incorporates an interference prevention function, external device monitoring capability compatible with 8-core or 12-core cables, an interlock function with manual or auto reset options, and an override function available with a 12-core cable. The housing is made of aluminum, while the sensing surface combines polycarbonate resin with stainless steel SUS304, and the upper and lower caps are constructed from nylon. This sensor is pre-equipped with a connector for ease of installation and operates within an ambient air temperature range of -10 to +55°C. It offers a degree of protection rated at IP67. The protective height of the sensor is 950 mm, and it features two digital outputs (selectable NPN/PNP open-collector / 24Vdc / 60-200mA) for safety outputs OSSD1+OSSD2, and one digital output (selectable NPN/PNP open-collector / 24Vdc / 100mA). The sensing distance ranges from 20cm to 9m in long mode, equivalent to 0.656 to 29.528 feet, and from 80cm to 15m, or 2.625 to 49.213 feet, in long mode. Current consumption is rated at 100mA (0.1 A) for the emitter and 140mA (0.14 A) for the receiver. The light emitted is in the infrared (IR) spectrum with a wavelength of 850 nm, and it can detect objects as small as 45mm or 1.772 inches.
